Left stagnant for long periods of time, the diesel fuel in bulk fuel tanks or belly tanks can become contaminated with moisture due to humidity in the air, and algae can then form at the fuel/air interface. Left unchecked, moisture, algae, fungus, sludge, and other particulate will contaminate the fuel, which can then cause problems with start-up and operation of the diesel engine when it is needed most - during an emergency!
A Fuel Polishing System will recirculate the fuel inside the bulk tank or day tank, creating convection and movement which helps prevent the formation of algae at the fuel/air interface. At the same time, a Fuel Polishing System will effectively filter the fuel, removing both particulate and moisture contamination.
This is not a “one size fits all” solution; the Fuel Polishing System must be sized properly with a high enough flow rate to create some convection within the fuel tank and enough turn-over for effective filtration.
Design features:
Positive displacement gear pump direct coupled to premium efficiency electric motor
High efficiency absolute-rated 4-Micron filter elements (Beta>1000 per ISO 16889) for particulate removal
Coalescer/separator elements or water absorbing filter elements for effective removal of free water from diesel fuel
Compact NEMA 4 electric control panel with pushbutton on-off switches, “Plugged Filter” indicator lights, and programmable timer (if necessary)
