Filtration Solutions for Fyrquel Phosphate Ester Fluid and Other Fire Resistant Fluids

THE QUESTION

We often get asked, "Does your Vacuum Dehydrator work on fire resistant hydraulic oils like Fyrquel®?"

THE OIL FILTRATION SYSTEMS SOLUTION

Yes it does, and with only a few minor modifications, our standard design is fully compatible for long-term dedicated use with phosphate ester and other synthetic fluids.

Just like mineral-based and synthetic hydraulic and lubrication oils, it is very important to keep Fyrquel® and other fire resistant fluids absolutely clean and dry.  Excessive moisture and particulate contamination can lead to inefficient operation and premature failure of critical components, so depending on oil analysis results, it is often considered “best practice” to use supplementary filtration and/or dehydration equipment to bring the Fyrquel® back into specification by lowering the ISO cleanliness code and reducing the overall water content.

Buna® nitrile rubber is not compatible for use with Fyrquel®, and since all of the seals in our VDOPS are made of viton® material (which is fully compatible), the only change needed is to use Chemical Transfer Hose on the VDOPS inlet and outlet rather than standard Petroleum Transfer Hose.  Also, for long-term dedicated use with Fyrquel®, our plexiglass covers can be replaced with borosilicate glass, which will not be clouded or etched by the phosphate ester.

Oil Filtration Systems® designs and builds the most effective, durable, and user-friendly vacuum dehydrators on the market today. Special engineered design features maximize the water extraction rates of our oil purifiers, and top-quality components and workmanship ensure years of maintenance-free operation and performance.Recirculating your hydraulic and/or lube oil with a Vacuum Dehydration Oil Purification System (VDOPS) will help you maintain optimal fluid cleanliness in your system, extending the life of your rotating equipment and critical component parts, minimizing downtime and saving you money.
